OUTREACH SPECIALIST

General Statement of Duties:The Outreach Specialist will be an active participant in the agency's mission, vision, and values by assisting in the coordinating, planning and implementing of community outreach and educational activities. He/she shall work to ensure that NWICA branded programs and events meet the needs of consumers and communities served by the agency throughout our seven county area.

This individual will work in a multi-functional, fast-paced setting & is responsible for assisting in determination of community outreach and education based on evaluation of agency, specific program, consumer and community needs.

Responsibilities: Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Social Work, or Social Services preferred or 1-3 years' work experience in related field.  Superior communication skills including the ability understand and relate to the aging, disabled, and low-income populations; ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks; computer skills required. Must be insurable under the agency's liability policy.

IT TECHNICIAN (P/T)

General Statement of Duties:Skilled to perform technical hardware repairs, upgrades and maintenance of computer workstations, printers, notebooks, peripherals and be able to install/troubleshoot/update software applications.  Will need to learn other applications that are used throughout the organization.  Will need to answer helpdesk calls from users and resolve service tickets in a helpdesk environment

Qualifications: HS diploma or equal.  Must have a minimum of 2 years of work experience in Information Technology.  Must be familiar with different Windows operating systems, (7, 8, and 10) in a corporate environment.  Must have experience with application software, (Microsoft Office), and be able to learn other application software that is utilized in the company.  Must be able to work in a helpdesk environment and be able to resolve service tickets.  Must have knowledge and training in diagnostics, software tools and equipment.  Basic math, English, communication, writing and analytical skills required.  Able to lift 25-50 pounds.  Valid Operator Driver's License and automobile insurance a must.

CASE MANAGER (Porter County) Aging & Disability Resource Center

General Statement of Duties: Position is responsible for face to face assessment of client needs and resources, establishing services to meet the individual's critical and non-critical needs through the formalizing of supports and authorizing paid services when needed.  The Case Manager provides case management services, assessment, care planning and client empowerment to low income, elderly, and disabled individuals to support making educated decisions regarding their long-term care planning and in remaining independent within their homes and community.   

Qualifications: Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services; or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Nursing, Gerontology or Health & Human Services; or Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two year’s full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience includes assessment, care plan development, and monitoring); or Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required experience; understanding of the case management process and low-income, elderly populations; able to coordinate/communicate effectively with customers, service providers, staff and general public; ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks; computer skills; Microsoft Word data entry skills required. Must be insurable under the agency's liability policy.

OPTIONS COUNSELOR (Lake County) Aging & Disability Resource Center

General Statement of Duties: Position is responsible for completing Options Counseling for long-term care services in the community and in a call center. This position also develops, implements, and monitors personalized Plan of Care in a manner that ensures maximum client participation, independence and self-determination.

WIC SITE MANAGER (LaPorte)

General Statement of Duties: WIC Site Manager acts as liaison between all WIC Program staff and WIC Administrative personnel. Develops, maintain and monitors clinic schedules and staffing for the clinic office. Provides administration and oversight of clinic related to policy and procedure compliance, training and annual evaluations. Performs all duties of WIC CPA and aspects of WIC participant certification. Positively promotes breastfeeding to all participants, educate through facilitation of breastfeeding classes and ensuring breastfeeding initiation and duration. Assist with outreach and recruitment of program participants as wells as the promotion of the WIC Program

Qualifications: Candidate should be a qualified Nutritionist, Registered Dietitian, or Licensed Registered Nurse. A Bachelor's Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences (Home Economics) with an emphasis in Nutrition defined as a minimum of 9 hours in nutrition which include, 3 hours of introductory nutrition, 3 hours in life cycle nutrition, 3 hours in advance nutrition. Candidate should also possess excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills. Be a self-starter, able to work independently, service oriented with attention to detail. Be committed to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, volunteers, program participants, and other WIC Program supporters.

WIC SUPERVISOR (Women, Infants and Children)

General Statement of Duties: Supervisor will assist WIC Program Manager in training new employees. WIC Supervisor will assist in monitoring clinic staff in daily operations in multiple sites. WIC Supervisor will perform as a CPA in clinic when needed. Positively promotes breastfeeding to all WIC participants and staff. Ensures all State policies and procedures are followed and met.

Qualifications: Candidate should be a qualified Nutritionist, Registered Dietitian, or Licensed Registered Nurse. RECEPTIONIST (P/T)

General Statement of Duties: The Receptionist is expected to be an active participant in the agency's mission, vision, and values by welcoming visitors in a professional manner greeting them in person or on the phone.  He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency's constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working relationships with all agency personnel. This individual will work in a multi-functional, fast-paced setting & is responsible for daily operations of the front desk area, mail, faxes and keeping complete and accurate documentation.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a high school diploma.  Excellent communication skills including the ability to respond to callers with patience and objectivity in a nonjudgmental manner.  One year experience in social services, office setting or related field.    Must have computer skills, operation of office machines and use of Microsoft Office. Detail oriented, flexible, cooperative, motivated and dependable.

CALL SPECIALIST (1 F/T, 1 P/T)

General Statement of Duties: Actively participates as a member of the 211 Information and Assistance team and is expected to be an active participant in the agency’s mission, vision, values, and by delivering quality, professional information and assistance, referral and advocacy services to inquirers. He/she is a front line representative to the public and is responsible for taking incoming calls, performing intake screenings, research, follow-up, advocacy and surveys. He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency’s constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working relationships with all agency personnel. This individual will work in a multi-functional, fast-paced setting while being responsible for daily phone assessments and keeping complete and accurate documentation.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. One year experience preferred in information and referral, social services, crisis intervention, customer service or related field. Call center experience a plus. Basic math, English, excellent communication, writing and analytical skills required. Must have computer skills, operation of office machines and use of Microsoft Office. Detail oriented, flexible, cooperative, motivated and dependable.

CLINICAL ASSISTANT Women, Infants and Children: Hammond F/T, LaPorte P/T

General Statement of Duties: WIC Clinical Assistant performs all clerical functions. The primary function of the WIC Clinical Assistant is to assist the WIC Site Manager and CPA in the WIC certification process of participants. He/She will explain the WIC Program and its benefits to participants, confirm participant eligibility, and assist with WIC Program promotion/education and outreach for the purpose of maintaining and increasing participant utilization. The WIC Clinical Assistant will receive participants in a professional and courteous manner, collect appropriate date and perform the necessary associated clerical duties.

Qualifications: Candidate should possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience with the WIC Program desirable. Basic knowledge of clerical work (filing, date entry, telephone etiquette, etc.) is required. Have excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills. Self-starter, able to work independently, service orientated with attention to detail. Bilingual desired.

BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR Women, Infants and Children: Hammond F/T, LaPorte P/T

General Statement of Duties:WIC Peer Counselor an active member of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).  The primary function of the WIC Peer Counselor is to promote breastfeeding within the community and the clinic in conjunction with outreach activities of the WIC program.  The Peer Counselor recruits and counsels WIC prenatal and nursing mothers as well as provides breastfeeding support and education for new mothers as needed

Qualifications:Candidate should be a current or previous breastfeeding mother with a minimum of 6 months breastfeeding experience.  Be willing to successfully complete WIC Peer Counselor training.  Have reliable transportation.  Basic knowledge of clerical work (filing, data entry, telephone etiquette, etc.) required.  Have excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.  Self-starter, able to work independently, service oriented with attention to detail.
